  1. I have always told my youngest that my tummy was broken, and I needed to get some parts from a different mommy and daddy to make my tummy work, and that is how he got to be in my tummy. My older son, who was a private adoption when he was 12 hours old, always asks why we didn't choose to put him in my tummy too. I explain to him that we didn't know about this special kind of science when he was born, so we were super lucky that his birth mom chose us to be his parents.... We also have a daughter who we adopted through foster care, and her adoption is completely open, so she knows how she joined our family..... Our unique family story was featured on the HBO / Rosie O'Donnell documentary, "A Family is A Family".....
